Black’s Beach

This publication contains nine prints of graphite drawings from my Black's Beach series that reimagine Black’s Beach in San Diego through layered, collage-like compositions. The drawings draw from research in the La Jolla Historical Society archives, internet sources, social media, and my own photographs taken on site. Each composition assembles fragments from different zones of the beach including the Gliderport, The Salk Institute, and the area commonly known as the “gay section” reflecting the overlapping uses, histories, and social dynamics of the landscape, with particular attention to queer male presence at the beach.
10 unbound prints, 8 × 10 inches, housed in a multi-fold sleeve.
