Seeing is Everything & Nothing is a multisegmented photo of a collage that depicts my ongoing understanding of outer space and existence. The Book of Genesis and creationist theories formulated my initial thoughts surrounding these ideas while growing up Catholic. As I mature in age, my understanding is increasingly shaped by science.

Early questions I began asking myself as a child were:

-What came before God, and what came before that? And before that?

-Why is there anything at all?

-How is it that from all the seemingly infinite possibilities in the universe, I am me, in my body, with my spirit?

-What was I like before I came into bodily existence? Was it like sleeping?

The assembled 8-inch by 8-inch xerox prints depict a collage I made in my studio on a one-to-one scale and reflect the materiality and process in which the original collage is constructed. Through this, I explore how photography is often the only option for visually experiencing something that exists, such as faraway celestial objects.
